先日、大谷翔平の肘の故障が判明し投手としては今季マウンドに上がれにことが分かりメジャー球界には大きな衝撃が走ったが、日本時間8月29日にはドジャースの先発投手トニー・ゴンソリンがトミージョン手術を受けることが公表され来シーズンも全休する見込みと発表された。
ゴンソリンは今季がメジャー5年目になる現在29歳の投手。
扱う球種は4球種でフォーシームを軸にスプリット、スライダー、カーブをバランスよく投げ特にスプリットとスライダーは変化量が大きくゴンソリンの最大の武器でもある。
2023年、今季のゴンソリンは20試合に登板し8勝5敗 防御率4.98と先発投手のパフォーマンスとしては厳しい成績になっていた。
不安定なピッチングが続く中、8月に入ると腕の炎症が悪化し今季の登板は絶望的に。
そして8月の下旬にはトミー・ジョン手術を受ける事が発表された。
今シーズンどころか来シーズンもゴンソリンの姿を見ることは出来なそうだが、少なくともこれまでドジャースの投手陣を支えてきた彼の投手としての実力は間違いなく本物。
まだまだ先の話にはなってしまうがゴンソリンが再びマウンドに上がる日を楽しみに待つとしよう。
