今では違反バットとして使用を禁止されているが1980年までは日本のプロ野球界でも使用が認められていた。
当時、このバットを使用していた代表的な選手は世界のホームラン王・王貞治や張本勲など。
バットの原材料として使われるアオダモの枯渇を危惧して作られたバットこそがこの圧縮バットだった。
このバットは反発力が強くボールを遠くに飛ばす力を持っている。
王貞治の引退と同時にこのバットが使用禁止になり、王貞治やプロ野球機構などへの批判も相次いでいた。
